Facebook Vanity URLs

Here is another frontier for people and brand stewards to focus on- Facebook.

Luckily, I was able to secure http://www.facebook.com/rich.behrens last weekend. I can imagine that famous folks have already been squatted, and they probably don’t even realize it.

“Tony LaRussa, manager of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, recently sued Twitter, saying it did not do enough to prevent someone from tweeting under his name. Twitter has called the lawsuit “frivolous” and says the network shuts down accounts used by known impersonators.” NYT 6.18.09

Every new network that gains critical mass has this potential issue.

It is very important to monitor your online personal and brand id so that you can manage it yourself and not have someone else do it for you.
